🏠Dashboard
See your Total Anime, Unwatched, Watching and Completed counts. Tap a stat card to open My Anime with that filter. Continue Watching shows anime currently marked Watching and whose Show on Dashboard setting is enabled.
📚My Anime: Search, Filters & Tags
Browse your complete library. Search by anime title or tag, then filter by Watch Status (All, Unwatched, Watching, Completed), Release Status (All, Complete, Ongoing), or Anime Type (All, Series, Movie). Use the tag pills for quick filtering. Sort by Recently Added, Recently Modified, Title A → Z, Title Z → A, Highest Rated or Lowest Rated. Movie means an anime with only movies; Series means it has at least one season, including season + movie combinations.
➕Adding & Editing an Anime
Tap Add Anime or edit an existing anime from its Details screen. You can set the title, poster, release status, overall watch status, dashboard visibility, personal rating, custom tags, seasons/movies/OVAs/parts, and notes.
🖼️Poster Images & Crop
Choose a poster from your device or paste an image URL. After selecting an image, use Adjust to drag and zoom it inside the poster frame, then choose Use This Crop. You can also remove the selected image before saving.
👁️Show on Dashboard
Each anime has a Show on Dashboard toggle. Turn it off to hide that anime from Continue Watching without changing its actual Watch Status. The Dashboard Watching count still includes every anime marked Watching.
🎬Seasons, Movies, OVAs & Parts
Add seasons, movies and OVAs in any order. Movies and OVAs can be placed between seasons. Seasons can contain multiple named parts. Each season, movie, OVA and part keeps its own progress status, and the overall anime status is calculated from those entries. OVAs appear in Anime Details and progress tracking, but are not a separate library category and do not appear on anime cards.
▶️Direct Watch Progress
On Anime Details, tap Unwatched, Watching or Completed directly on a season, movie or OVA. Parts have their own status buttons. Completing a season also completes all of its parts; setting a season or part status updates the overall anime Watch Status automatically.
▶️Watch Status
Unwatched means you have not started it, Watching means you are currently watching it, and Completed means all tracked entries are completed. The overall status is automatically recalculated from seasons, parts, movies and OVAs when their progress is changed.
📺Release Status
Release status describes the anime itself, independently from your personal watch status. Complete means finished airing; Ongoing means more content is coming. You can be Completed while the anime is still Ongoing.
⭐Personal Rating
Rate an anime from 0 to 10 in 0.5-point steps. Click the stars or use the −0.5 / +0.5 controls, and use Clear to remove the rating. Ratings are shown on anime cards and can be used for library sorting.
🏷️Custom Tags
Add comma-separated custom tags to organize your anime. Tags appear on library cards and Anime Details, can be searched, and are automatically collected into quick-filter pills on My Anime.
📝Notes & Review
Save personal notes, thoughts, favourite moments, recommendations or watching context. Notes are displayed on the anime's Details screen and are included in backups.
📜Journey Timeline
Add milestones such as Started New, Started Again, Completed Available Seasons, Completed Full Anime and Watched (useful for movie-only anime). Month and year can be set for each log and default to the current date. Logs are shown chronologically, with the oldest entries at the top and newest at the bottom. Individual logs can be edited or deleted.
🔍Anime Details
Open an anime from My Anime, Dashboard or a Journey entry to see its poster, statuses, rating, tags, seasons, movies, OVAs, parts, progress, notes and journey events. From Details you can edit or delete the anime.
💾Backup & Restore
Export your complete AniDiary database as a JSON backup. Backups include anime records, posters, tags, ratings, notes, dashboard visibility, release/watch statuses, seasons, parts, movies, OVAs and journey logs. Import a backup to restore the records; existing entries with the same ID are overwritten. The Android app uses the system Save picker when exporting.
🗑️Deleting Anime & Clear All Data
Use the trash button on an anime's Details screen to delete that anime after confirmation. Settings also has Clear Database Entirely, which permanently removes all stored anime records and journey logs from the device after confirmation.
⚙️Settings & Offline Storage
Settings provides Backup & Restore, the Help Guide, app information and data management. AniDiary stores your anime database locally on the device using offline browser storage, so your library is available without an online account or server.
↩️Navigation & Back
Use the bottom navigation to switch between Dashboard, My Anime, Journey and Settings. On Anime Details, use Back to Library. The app also keeps navigation history so the device/browser Back action can move through screens and close open dialogs in the expected order.
💡Quick Tips
A normal series can be Season 1 → Season 2 → Season 3. You can place a Movie or OVA between them, such as Season 1 → OVA → Movie → Season 2. Use parts when a season has separate sections, and use Journey logs when you want to preserve important milestones independently of watch-status changes.
